Sulphur Springs Man Arrested for DWI After Rollover Accident on I-30

Alejandro Sanchez Jr

In the early hours of Monday, October 30, 2023, Hopkins County Sheriff's Office Texas deputies responded to a distress call at the 121-mile marker of Westbound Interstate 30. The call reported a single-vehicle rollover accident.

Upon reaching the scene, deputies discovered a Ram pickup truck lying on its side in the adjacent ditch. The driver was identified as Alejandro Sanchez Jr, who informed the authorities that he was en route from Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Rockwall, Texas.

Deputies immediately noticed the presence of an alcoholic odor emanating from Sanchez's person. To determine the extent of his impairment, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered at the scene. Following these tests, Sanchez was transported to the Hopkins County Jail for further evaluation.

At the jail, additional Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, and Sanchez voluntarily consented to provide a breath specimen. The results from the Intoxilyzer 9000 instrument revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.151 on the first sample and 0.158 on the second sample. It is worth noting that the legal limit for BAC in the State of Texas is 0.08.

As a result of the findings, Alejandro Sanchez Jr, 21, hailing from Sulphur Springs, was booked into the Hopkins County Jail on the charge of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) with a BAC exceeding 0.15.
