The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office in Texas responded to a distressing incident involving a four-month-old baby at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs on October 27, 2023.

Deputies arrived at the hospital and spoke with the baby's mother, who reported that on the previous night at around 11 p.m., her boyfriend, 21-year-old Romeo Jenkins of Sulphur Springs, had assaulted their four-month-old daughter.

Deputies located Jenkins at his workplace and brought him to the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office for questioning. Jenkins was read his rights, confirmed that he understood them, and agreed to be interviewed.

According to the arrest report, Jenkins admitted to injuring the child by forcefully grabbing her from her bassinet in a fit of anger and frustration. He allegedly placed the baby on top of her mother forcefully, resulting in the infant landing in an awkward position.

Romeo Jenkins was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He has been booked on the charge of "Injury to a Child." Jenkins' bond has been set at $75,000.
