Royse City Police Seek Victims of Hidden Creek Car Burglaries

The Royse City Police Department is asking residents of the Hidden Creek neighborhood to come forward if they were victimized by a recent string of car burglaries. An 18-year-old male resident of the neighborhood was arrested in connection with the break-ins, which occurred overnight in the northern Collin County subdivision.

A search warrant executed at the suspect's home turned up several backpacks, electronics devices, and a handgun that investigators believe were stolen. However, some of the recovered items have not yet been reported to police.

The department is requesting that any Hidden Creek residents who discovered their vehicles were burglarized and property taken should contact the Royse City Police at 972-204-7001 Ext. 5 to file a report. This will assist efforts to return the unclaimed stolen goods to their rightful owners.

In response to the rash of break-ins, the police department says it has increased patrols in Royal City neighborhoods. But they urge residents to help prevent future incidents by locking their car doors and not leaving any valuables inside unattended vehicles.

Police said practicing routine precautions like “Take, Hide and Lock” can go a long way toward denying opportunities to would-be car burglars. The investigation into the Hidden Creek crimes is ongoing.
