On the evening of October 19, 2023, Hopkins County Sheriff's Office Texas deputies responded to a distress call from a residence in Cumby, Texas. The call was made by a concerned individual who reported that her boyfriend, identified as Anthony Wayne Winstead, was intoxicated and causing a disturbance at their home.
Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies engaged with the caller, Winstead, and Winstead's mother. It was revealed during the investigation that Winstead had assaulted his mother during a heated argument, using a cap as a weapon. The assault resulted in a bleeding injury to the woman's upper lip.
In response to the incident, Anthony Wayne Winstead, a 38-year-old resident of Cumby, Texas, was taken into custody by law enforcement officers and subsequently transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He is now facing charges of Assault Family/Household Member with Previous Convictions, classified as a Felony of the 3rd Degree (F3).
In addition to the criminal charges, Winstead's arrest report was completed, a 48-hour detention request was submitted, and an Emergency Protection Order was filed in connection with the case.
