On September 17, 2023, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a pursuit of a motorcycle on FM 751, near the border of Van Zandt County. The motorcycle's rider, a male individual, refused to comply with law enforcement and led deputies on a chase.

The pursuit continued as the motorcycle turned onto Van Zandt CR 3815, with speeds reaching between 50 and 60 miles per hour. The situation took a dramatic turn when the motorcycle made a sharp turn onto CR 3812. At that point, the motorcycle left the road and entered a ditch, causing the suspect to lose control of the bike, resulting in a crash.

At the time of the accident, only one Hunt County Deputy was actively pursuing the suspect. However, additional officers from both Hunt County and Van Zandt County were en route to provide assistance. Eventually, the pursuing officer successfully apprehended the suspect, who had been resisting arrest.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen from Mesquite back in September.

Joseph Leon Parks of Dallas was arrested and subsequently booked into the Hunt County Detention Center. He now faces several charges, including:

  1. Evading Arrest Detention
  2. Evading Arrest Detention With Vehicle With a Previous Conviction or Serious Bodily Injury
  3. Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport
  4. Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
  5. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
