A routine traffic stop on Hillcrest Drive took a serious turn last night as Sulphur Springs Police arrested 31-year-old Baily O’Conner for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under the age of 15.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 pm when a Sulphur Springs Police officer pulled over O’Conner's vehicle. Upon approaching the driver, the officer noticed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the smell of alcohol on her breath. Following Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the officer determined that O’Conner had been operating the vehicle under the influence with a child under the age of 15 onboard.
O’Conner was taken into custody, where she refused a consented blood draw. Subsequently, a warrant for a blood specimen was obtained and granted. She was then transported to a local hospital for the blood draw and later booked into Hopkins County Jail.
O’Conner now faces a charge of DWI with Child Passenger Under 15 Years Old.
