Last night, emergency services responded to a motor vehicle accident near Coleman Lake, prompting a rescue operation by Sulphur Springs Police Department, Sulphur Springs Fire Department, and Hopkins County EMS.
Around 11:00 pm, authorities were alerted to the incident. Upon arrival, responders discovered two vehicles involved in the accident. One vehicle remained on the roadway, while the other had careened off an embankment and plunged into Coleman Lake.
During the rescue operation, one individual from the submerged truck managed to make it to the shore safely. However, another occupant was found standing on top of the partially submerged vehicle in the darkness. To ensure their safety, a rescue boat was deployed, successfully bringing the stranded individual back to shore.
The investigation is ongoing.
