In an incident that unfolded on Monday afternoon, Sulphur Springs Police Department officers arrested Xavier Hill, 23, after a routine traffic stop revealed his involvement with illegal substances. At approximately 1:30 pm, a police officer pulled over Hill's vehicle in the 1300 block of Hillcrest for speeding. Upon approaching the driver, Xavier Hill, the officer noticed signs of nervousness.
Further checks through dispatch confirmed the officer's suspicion, revealing four active warrants for Hill's arrest. Hill was taken into custody, and upon obtaining consent, officers searched the vehicle. During the search, a blue pill identified as fentanyl was discovered on the ground next to Hill. Despite Hill denying ownership of the pill, the situation escalated when more pills fell from his pant leg as he moved.
Officers conducted a thorough search, during which a clear plastic bag containing additional Fentanyl pills was found. All the pills were collected as evidence. Xavier Hill was subsequently booked into Hopkins County Jail on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (F3) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges also included warrants related to failure to display a driver's license and speeding violations.
