Boil Water Notice Issued in Quinlan Due to Disinfectant Residual Levels

The City of Quinlan has issued a Boil Water Notice to all residents and businesses served by the city's public water system (PWS#1160007). This precautionary measure is in response to the city's inability to maintain the state-required minimum disinfectant residual levels.

Several factors have contributed to this situation, including high temperatures, low residual levels in the incoming wholesale water, challenges in introducing additional disinfectants, and limitations in flushing the water system during periods of high usage while maintaining adequate water levels in elevated tanks.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has mandated the issuance of the Boil Water Notice. Residents and businesses are advised to boil all water prior to consumption, including for drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing teeth. Boiling water kills most harmful bacteria and other microbes that may be present.

Public Works personnel are actively collaborating with the city's wholesale water provider to address the issue. They are closely monitoring conditions and making necessary adjustments in the distribution system to restore disinfectant residuals to the required minimums. The city is committed to resolving the problem promptly and ensuring the safety of the public water supply.

Once the disinfectant levels have returned to the state-required minimums and stable conditions are maintained, the City of Quinlan will issue a public notice announcing the rescindment of the Boil Water Notice. In the meantime, residents and businesses are urged to follow the boiling water advisory to safeguard their health and well-being.
