Sulphur Springs Man Lands in Jail for Assaulting Thirteen-Year-Old Son

On the evening of September 28, 2023, at approximately 6:30 pm, Sulphur Springs Police Department officers swiftly responded to a reported disturbance with family violence at the Royal Inn on Broadway. The incident allegedly involved Corey Edwards, a 32-year-old resident of Sulphur Springs, who was accused of assaulting his thirteen-year-old son by striking him multiple times in the head with a closed fist, causing pain and injury.

Officers arrived promptly at the scene and located Edwards walking in the vicinity of Lee and Fisher Streets. Edwards was taken into custody without incident.

Corey Edwards was subsequently booked into Hopkins County Jail on multiple charges. He now faces the following charges:

  • Injury to Child/Elderly/Disabled with Intent Bodily Injury (F3)
  • Ride Not Secured by Safety Belt - Driver

  • Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility
