On September 24, 2023, Hopkins County Sheriff Deputies responded to a disturbance call that led to the arrest of 48-year-old Tonye Deleo Dockray. Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies discovered Dockray, the victim, and a witness. Dockray stands accused of choking a woman and repeatedly striking her face with his fist while she was on the ground. The victim also sustained minor cuts and bruises on her arms.
In light of the incident, Tobye Deleo Dockray has been placed under arrest and charged with Assault Family Violence by impeding breath or circulation. A bond of $50,000 has been set for his release.
This incident is not the first time Dockray has faced legal trouble. In 2019, he was arrested and charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felonious pointing, shooting with intent, negligent discharge, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. These charges stemmed from a confrontation with his then ex-wife, which also resulted in a vehicular collision, during which she sustained a gunshot wound to her hand.
