Matthew Hunter Colville, who had been wanted on multiple felony warrants, was apprehended by Deputy U.S. Marshals in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on Sunday afternoon.
Colville first came to the attention of the Titus County Sheriff’s Office in March 2022 when a search warrant was executed on his property on the 400 block of County Road 1925. During the search, deputies discovered that Colville, a felon, was in possession of both marijuana and 32 firearms, a violation of both state and federal laws.
On September 15, 2023, Colville became a wanted fugitive for various felony warrants, including Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer out of Denton, Texas, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in Titus County. Lamar County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to apprehend him when he was spotted at a store in Pattonville, Texas. Colville, however, used his truck to ram into several patrol vehicles and fled the scene.
A pursuit ensued, with Colville eventually making his way to his residence on CR 1925. After exiting his truck, he fled on a side-by-side ATV into nearby woods and pasture land. Despite an extensive search by multiple agencies, Colville remained at large.

During the search for Colville, deputies learned that he had a pistol on his person when he fled from Lamar County Deputies. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed on the houses and travel trailers on Colville's property, where additional marijuana and firearms, including an unregistered fully automatic machine gun, were discovered.
Colville's status as a felon and the possession of unregistered automatic firearms led to the issuance of additional felony arrest warrants. The Titus County Sheriff’s Office enlisted the U.S. Marshal Service's assistance in apprehending Colville. Investigations into individuals who aided or harbored Colville are also underway, as knowingly providing aid to a wanted felon is a felony in Texas.
The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Task Force located Colville in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on Sunday, resulting in his arrest without major incident. The Titus County Sheriff’s Office extends its gratitude to the U.S. Marshal’s Service, other cooperating agencies, and the public for their assistance in Colville’s capture.
