A tragic accident occurred on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 8:27 am, involving an 18-Wheeler and multiple passenger cars on IH30 Eastbound at FM 35. The Royse City Police Department and the Royse City Fire Department swiftly responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the 18-Wheeler, which was traveling westbound, crossed into the eastbound lanes of IH30, leading to a collision with three passenger cars. Tragically, one of the passenger cars caught fire upon impact, and the flames engulfed the vehicle before first responders arrived.
The victims of this heart-wrenching incident have been identified as 35-year-old Christopher Scott Talley and 36-year-old Shannon Nickole Crawford, both residents of Greenville. The couple was in the vehicle that caught fire. They are survived by their two children.
IH30 Eastbound, between FM35 and FM2642, was temporarily closed following the accident.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, a 51-year-old female from Pahrump, Nevada, was reportedly cooperating with authorities.
The accident remains under investigation by the Royse City Police Department Traffic Collision Unit. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
