COMMERCE, Texas - Commerce police are investigating several recent burglaries reported in two areas of the city and are asking residents and businesses to check their security cameras for possible evidence.
The burglaries were reported in the 2200 block of Charity Street and near East Sterling Hart Drive and Harlow Drive. The incidents occurred between Aug. 28 and Sept. 1, according to the Commerce Police Department.
Investigators have not determined whether the burglaries are connected but are reviewing the cases for possible similarities.
Police are particularly interested in security camera footage showing suspicious people, vehicles or other activity during two time periods.
For the Charity Street investigation, police are seeking footage recorded Aug. 28 between approximately 6:10 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.
In the East Sterling Hart Drive and Harlow Drive area, investigators are looking for footage from approximately 7:15 p.m. Aug. 31 through 8:58 a.m. Sept. 1.
Police have not disclosed what was stolen, how many properties were burglarized or whether investigators have identified any suspects.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has photographs or video that could assist investigators is asked to contact the Commerce Police Department at 903-886-1139.
Police are also urging residents to secure their homes, vehicles, windows and outbuildings and to use exterior lighting and security cameras when available. Residents who encounter suspicious people are advised not to confront them and instead contact police.
