HUNT COUNTY, Texas — One person was airlifted to a Metroplex trauma center and two others were transported to a local hospital following a serious two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon near Wolfe City.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 20, 2026, Wolfe City Fire Rescue Station 10, Celeste Volunteer Fire Rescue Station 23, and AMR Hunt County responded to a reported motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 34 and County Road 1001.
Celeste Command 123 and Hunt County AMR arrived to find two vehicles with significant rear-end damage and one occupant trapped inside a vehicle.
Due to the severity of the crash and the entrapment, PHI Air Medical's McKinney Med 2 helicopter was requested to respond to the scene.
Firefighters from Station 10 and Station 23 worked together to safely extricate the trapped patient from the wreckage.
Following the rescue effort, the patient was airlifted to a Level I trauma center in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for treatment of serious injuries.
AMR Hunt County transported two additional patients to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or the extent of their injuries.
The cause of the crash has not been disclosed.
Emergency officials praised the coordinated response by first responders from multiple agencies who worked together to safely remove the trapped victim and provide medical care.
