TEXARKANA, Texas — A vehicle burglary suspect was arrested just minutes after a witness reported suspicious activity in a neighborhood early Monday morning, according to police.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. on June 15, 2026, a caller reported seeing a man wearing white shorts and a white shirt going through vehicles in the 1000 block of West 40th Street.
Officers Cody Cox and Macey Huddle were already in the area and quickly located a man matching the description walking away from the neighborhood.
Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Marcarius Stroops.
As officers approached, Officer Huddle observed Stroops drop an item onto the ground. Investigators said it was a clear coin bag with a pink zipper containing loose change.
During a search, officers also found a large amount of cash, sunglasses, and a crumpled receipt in Stroops' pockets.
At the same time, other officers contacted a vehicle owner in the area, who reported that a clear coin bag with a pink zipper, cash, and sunglasses had been stolen from their vehicle.
According to police, the receipt found on Stroops contained more than purchase information. Officers discovered a substance believed to be methamphetamine concealed inside the paper.
Investigators also learned that Stroops was wanted on an Arkansas parole violation warrant stemming from a previous burglary conviction.
Stroops was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was also taken into custody on the outstanding Arkansas warrant.
He was transported to the Bi-State Jail, where his bond was set at $25,000. Authorities also placed an Arkansas hold on him.
Police credited the quick arrest to the citizen who reported the suspicious activity and the officers who were already nearby when the call came in.
