Commerce Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Series of Vehicle Burglaries

Damarcus Jackson

COMMERCE, Texas — A Commerce man has been arrested following an investigation into multiple vehicle burglaries reported in the city earlier this month, according to the Commerce Police Department.

Police began investigating on June 9, 2026, after receiving a report of a vehicle burglary in the 1100 block of Main Street.

Responding officers discovered that additional vehicle burglaries had occurred in the same area on at least two separate occasions.

Officers and criminal investigators worked together to identify a suspect and gather evidence related to the incidents.

As a result of the investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Damarcus Travon Jackson on a charge of Theft of Property Valued at More Than $750 and Less Than $2,500 From an Elderly Individual.

On June 12, officers located Jackson and took him into custody on the outstanding warrant.

Police have not released additional details regarding the stolen property or the number of vehicles believed to be involved in the investigation.

The Commerce Police Department used the case to remind residents about common vehicle burglary prevention measures.

Officials noted that many vehicle burglaries occur when vehicles are left unlocked and encouraged residents to remove valuables, lock vehicle doors, and park in well-lit areas with surveillance cameras whenever possible.
