MARSHALL, Texas — A 98-year-old Marshall man died following a two-vehicle crash Friday morning at the intersection of Loop 390 and Scottsville Road, according to the Marshall Police Department.
Officers responded to the collision at approximately 9:52 a.m. on June 12, 2026.
The crash involved a passenger vehicle and a truck.
Marshall Fire Department paramedics transported the driver of the passenger vehicle to a local medical center, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities identified the deceased as Felton Augusta Hopkins Jr., 98, of Marshall.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Investigators have not released details regarding the circumstances that led to the crash, and no charges have been filed at this time.
The Marshall Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
Police officials noted that the collision marks the second fatal traffic crash in Marshall this week.
“This is the second fatal crash our community has experienced this week, and each loss is tragic,” Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth said. “Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Hopkins during this difficult time. We want to remind everyone to slow down, stay focused, and use extra caution on our roadways. A moment of attention can make all the difference.”
