GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas — A San Antonio man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting near Bells on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:44 p.m. on June 10 after receiving a report of a shooting and information that a possible victim was located on Antioch Road near Bells.
Officers with the Bells Police Department responded and located the reporting party. Grayson County deputies then responded to two related crime scenes, one on Antioch Road near the intersection of Highway 56 and a second in the parking lot of the Bells Post Office.
At the Antioch Road scene, deputies found 34-year-old Edward Cruz Trevino of San Antonio deceased just off the roadway.
Authorities said notification procedures were completed and Trevino's family has been informed of his death.
Investigators identified 35-year-old Kevin Emmanuel Kraemer, also of San Antonio, as a suspect in the case. Kraemer was located near the scene by Grayson County patrol deputies and taken into custody without incident.
Members of the Grayson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division processed both scenes while the Texas Rangers were called in to assist with the investigation.
Based on evidence collected and witness statements, Kraemer was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Grayson County Jail.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The Grayson County Sheriff's Office thanked the Bells Police Department, Whitewright Fire Department and Whitewright EMS for their assistance during the investigation.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy as they mourn the loss of a loved one,” the sheriff's office said.
