U.S. Marshals Capture Arkansas Rape Suspect in Texarkana After Multi-State Search

TEXARKANA, Ark. — A man wanted on a rape charge in Arkansas was arrested in Texas after a multi-state fugitive investigation involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

33-year-old Lance Brewer was taken into custody on June 2, 2026, at a residence in Texarkana, Texas, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The case began on May 12, 2026, when the Hope Police Department obtained an arrest warrant charging Brewer with one count of rape. Authorities then requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend him.

Investigators said the search for Brewer lasted several weeks and extended across multiple states.

Working with the Hope Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Texas, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Homeland Security personnel, authorities located Brewer and arrested him on the outstanding Arkansas warrant.

Brewer was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending extradition proceedings.

The U.S. Marshals Service noted that its fugitive task forces combine the resources of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest wanted fugitives, particularly those considered dangerous offenders.

According to the agency, U.S. Marshals arrested 74,222 fugitives and cleared 88,765 warrants nationwide in 2024, averaging approximately 297 fugitive arrests per day.
