GREENVILLE, Texas - A Hunt County murder suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Quinlan last week.
According to authorities, Hunt County deputies executed an arrest warrant on Monday, June 1st, and took 30-year-old Ladarious Keith Matthews into custody in Greenville.
Matthews is charged with Murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on May 27 near the intersection of East Quinlan Parkway (State Highway 276) and County Road 3609 in Quinlan.
Details regarding the victim and circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been released by investigators.
In addition to the murder charge, Matthews is also facing a Parole Violation charge.
Court records show Matthews was sentenced in November 2022 to eight years in prison after being convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Theft of a Firearm. He was later released on parole.
Investigators identified Matthews as the suspect in the Quinlan homicide and obtained a warrant for his arrest before taking him into custody Monday.
He is currently being held pending further court proceedings.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
