HUNT COUNTY, Texas - The Hunt County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another seriously injured early Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, dispatchers received a call around 3:22 a.m. May 27 reporting a shooting victim near the intersection of E. Quinlan Pkwy (SH-276) and County Road 3609 in Quinlan, TX.
A responding deputy arrived at the scene and located one individual suffering from a gunshot wound along with a second injured person.
Officials said the deputy immediately began lifesaving measures on the shooting victim until emergency medical personnel arrived.
The gunshot victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim was transported to a local hospital with suspected serious injuries.
Investigators requested assistance from the Texas Rangers as the investigation continues.
Preliminary findings indicate the shooting may have occurred at another location before the victims were discovered near Highway 276 and County Road 3609.
Authorities said investigators currently believe the incident was isolated and that there is no known threat to the public.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
