SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas — An investigation is underway after human skeletal remains were discovered near a residence Saturday morning, according to the Sulphur Springs Police Department.
Officers responded around 8:55 a.m. May 2 to the Mark Street area, near Texas Highway 313 and Hillcrest Drive North, after receiving a report of possible remains.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the remains were human. Criminal investigators, assisted by the Texas Rangers, conducted a search of the surrounding area and located additional remains.
Authorities said all remains were collected and transported to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences for analysis to determine the individual’s identity and cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
