On the evening of August 6, 2023, Sulphur Springs Police Department (SSPD) officers engaged in a high-speed pursuit, resulting in the arrest of Marcelo Flores for evading arrest and the discovery of a controlled substance.
Around 10:30 pm, SSPD attempted to halt a Kia Spectra driven by Mr. Flores for a traffic violation. Instead of complying, Flores accelerated and disregarded a stop sign before pulling into the Craig Street Apartments. Officers, with firearms drawn, maintained control until backup arrived, promptly apprehending the suspect without further issue.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of what appeared to be marijuana. Flores claimed his evasion was due to not having his driver's license in his possession.
Marcelo Flores was taken into custody and booked at Hopkins County Jail on the charge of Evading Arrest/Detention With a Vehicle.
