City of Greenville Appoints Sarah Johnston as New City Engineer

GREENVILLE, TX - The City of Greenville has announced the appointment of Sarah Johnston, P.E., as its new City Engineer, bringing years of municipal and state-level engineering experience to the role.

Johnston is a licensed professional engineer with a strong background in construction project management, engineering design review, and cross-department coordination. Her work has focused on delivering complex infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Most recently, Johnston served as a civil engineer for the City of Royse City. In that role, she oversaw engineering construction inspectors, reviewed plans for water, sewer, storm drainage, and paving projects, and worked closely with multiple city departments to keep projects on schedule and in compliance.

Before joining Royse City, Johnston worked as a transportation engineer with the Texas Department of Transportation in Kaufman. Her responsibilities included designing roadway overlay projects, developing project estimates, analyzing funding, reviewing record drawings, resolving utility conflicts, and conducting peer reviews for future roadway improvements.

Johnston also brings extensive municipal experience from her time with the City of Rockwall, where she managed construction projects for private development. Her duties included leading pre-construction meetings, overseeing TxDOT permit submissions, managing the city’s Municipal Storm Sewer System permit, and coordinating with residents and developers throughout the construction process.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University in 2016.

City officials say Johnston’s technical expertise and collaborative approach will be a strong asset as Greenville continues to grow and invest in its infrastructure.
