Jacksonville, Texas - A multi-agency law enforcement operation successfully apprehended 64-year-old Bobby Michael Dennis of Jacksonville on Wednesday night, November 5th, following a statewide manhunt. Dennis was wanted in connection with the November 2nd shooting of a Jacksonville Police officer.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from multiple agencies assisted the Jacksonville Police Department in serving a search warrant at a property on County Road 3509, just west of the Jacksonville city limits. Dennis was located in a wooded area near the property and surrendered to authorities without incident.
In a symbolic act of justice, Dennis was handcuffed using the injured officer’s handcuffs before being transported to the Cherokee County Jail. He now faces several charges, including:

Attempted Capital Murder – Peace Officer (First-Degree Felony)

Interference with Police Service Animal (State Jail Felony)

Two counts of Obstruction or Retaliation (Third-Degree Felonies)
The manhunt began after Dennis allegedly shot a Jacksonville Police officer on November 2nd. The officer was airlifted to a Tyler hospital for treatment and is currently recovering. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) added Dennis to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his capture.
After several days of coordinated investigative work, law enforcement agencies brought the case to a safe resolution. The Jacksonville Police Department expressed deep appreciation for the extensive teamwork and support that made the arrest possible.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to every agency and officer involved for their tireless dedication and commitment to public safety,” the department stated.
