CELESTE, Texas – A woman is in custody after allegedly shooting an elderly woman Wednesday night in Hunt County.
Around 9:00 p.m. on October 29, Hunt County deputies responded to a residence on County Road 1045 in Celeste following reports of a shooting. Celeste Police, Celeste Fire Department, and Hunt County EMS also arrived at the scene.
According to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was intentional. Deputies identified the suspect as Haydin Marie Autrey. She was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Hunt County Detention Center early Thursday morning. Autrey is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The elderly victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have not released information about the relationship between Autrey and the victim. The investigation remains active.
