Rowlett, TX – The Rowlett Police Department announced an arrest in connection with the October 31, 2024, shooting that left a teenage girl injured on Waterview Parkway.
At around 9:21 p.m. that Halloween night, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 9100 block of Waterview Parkway. When they arrived, they found a teenage female suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and paramedics provided immediate medical aid before she was taken to a nearby hospital. She survived her injuries and continues to recover.
After a year-long investigation, Rowlett Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID)—working closely with the Dallas County Juvenile Probation Department and the DeSoto Police Department—identified and located the suspect. On October 29, 2025, the juvenile suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Henry Wade Juvenile Detention Center in Dallas County. He faces a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Investigators determined that the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a dispute between two groups of teenagers who knew each other. Authorities emphasized that it was not a random act and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Because the suspect was a minor at the time of the offense and is being charged as a juvenile, his name and photo will not be released.
Rowlett Police Chief Mike Denning commended the persistence of his investigators and the cooperation among partner agencies, noting the unique challenges of identifying suspects on a crowded Halloween night.
“Our Criminal Investigations Division never gave up and followed every lead,” Chief Denning said. “I’m grateful to the victim and their family for their strength throughout this past year, and I’m pleased that this case has reached a resolution with the suspect now in custody. The Rowlett Police Department will continue to pursue anyone who commits acts of violence in our community with the same determination and commitment to justice.”
