In a somber turn of events, the Honey Grove community is mourning the loss of one of its own, Volunteer Firefighter Evan Brown. On Sunday evening, July 9th, tragedy struck as Firefighter Brown was responding to a vehicle crash on Tx 34, just south of Honey Grove. Accompanied by a fellow Honey Grove Volunteer Firefighter, he was traveling in his personal vehicle when it collided with a cow on FM824, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle.
The severity of the accident necessitated immediate medical attention, and Firefighter Brown was swiftly airlifted to a Level One Trauma Center in Plano for specialized care. Regrettably, despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals, Firefighter Brown's injuries proved fatal, and he succumbed to his injuries at Medical City Plano ICU shortly after 6:00 am on July 30, 2023.
