On August 14, 2025, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Larry Tyrone Goodson, 54, following a family-violence investigation near CR 2403.
Deputies were dispatched just after 11:12 a.m. in response to a reported assault. According to the arrest affidavit, the victim told deputies that her boyfriend, Goodson, assaulted her by striking her multiple times, placing his hand around her neck and restricting her breathing, and threatening to kill her with a knife. She also reported that he held a pellet gun to her face while she attempted to sleep.
Deputies observed visible injuries on the victim, including bruising to her face and arms. Goodson was detained at the scene and placed in a patrol unit. A subsequent search of the residence, conducted after a warrant was granted, revealed a firearm in the bedroom in plain view and accessible.
Goodson later told deputies that the pair had been “wrestling” and admitted to striking the victim on the chin, according to the affidavit.
He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon — Family Violence, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. A charge of bail jumping and fail to appear was added later. He remains in custody.
