SHERMAN, Texas—A Grayson County man has been indicted on charges of illegally possessing a machine gun, according to an announcement by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Xavier Donnell Porter, 32, a convicted felon, was named in a federal grand jury indictment this week in the Eastern District of Texas. The indictment charges him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition, and possession of a machine gun.
The indictment alleges that on December 5, 2024, Porter was found to be in possession of a machine gun. A subsequent investigation revealed that, due to his status as a convicted felon, he is prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.
If convicted, Porter faces a maximum of 15 years in federal prison. The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chalana Oliver.
