Suspects Arrested in Hopkins County Vehicle Theft and Burglaries

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement regarding a series of vehicle burglaries and a vehicle theft that occurred in the county. Thanks to the swift action and the help of surveillance video, two individuals have been identified, located, and apprehended in connection with the crimes.

The surveillance footage shared by the Sheriff’s Office revealed the suspects using stolen credit cards at a store in Greenville, providing crucial leads for the investigation. Less than 48 hours after the footage was released, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspects, putting an end to their crime spree.

The individuals have been identified as Samuel Austin Bertram, 32, of Sulphur Springs, and Heather Ann Lisenby, 32, of Plano. Both Bertram and Lisenby are facing multiple charges in relation to the vehicle theft and burglaries, including Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Controlled Substance (PG 1/1-B >=1G<4G), Fraud Use/Possession of Identifying Information, and Theft of Property valued between $2500 and $30,000.

The stolen vehicle, taken during one of the burglaries, has been successfully recovered by the authorities. The investigation into the pair's other criminal activities is still ongoing, as law enforcement officers work diligently to uncover any additional offenses committed by the suspects.

Following their arrests, Samuel Austin Bertram and Heather Ann Lisenby were taken into custody and are currently being held at the Hopkins County Jail.
