Alba Police Sergeant Arrested: Wife Also Charged Following Search Warrant

David Reed Tipps

In a shocking development to the case of Alba Police Sergeant David Tipps, who was arrested for aggravated assault and kidnapping, new information has come to light implicating his wife, Jessica Tipps, in a separate drug-related incident.

As we reported earlier, David Tipps was taken into custody on multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), and one count of aggravated kidnapping. These charges stemmed from an alarming incident where he intentionally rammed his vehicle into another, brandished a firearm during a domestic disturbance, and forcibly took his spouse with him as he fled the scene.

Following the arrest, Alba Police Chief Juan Ramirez issued a statement confirming that David Tipps has been placed on administrative suspension without pay pending further investigation into the disturbing allegations.

However, the investigation took an unexpected turn when a search warrant was executed at the Tipps' residence by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers. The warrant was related to the aggravated assault and kidnapping charges against David Tipps. During the search, law enforcement officials made a startling discovery, as they found suspected methamphetamines on the premises.

Jessica Tipps, the wife of the accused police sergeant and the alleged victim in the aforementioned charges, was subsequently arrested in connection with the drugs found in her home. The arrest occurred after she was subjected to a Miranda warning, ensuring her rights were protected during the interview with deputies.

During the interview, Jessica Tipps confessed to being the sole owner of the seized methamphetamines and admitted to using the illegal substance for approximately the last four months. According to her statement, she had snorted a line of methamphetamine roughly thirty minutes before law enforcement's arrival.

The seized substance was later confirmed to be methamphetamine, with an estimated weight of approximately 0.65 grams. Jessica Tipps now faces charges related to drug possession, and she is currently being held at the Hopkins County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
