A devastating accident occurred on Saturday, July 15, 2023, on Interstate 30 near the 145-mile marker, resulting in the loss of a young life. The incident involved three vehicles and left several individuals injured.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Jashadrian Morgan, a 34-year-old resident of Mount Pleasant, was traveling eastbound on I-30 when traffic ahead of him began to slow down or stop. The congestion was caused by vehicles shifting to the other lane to make way for an emergency vehicle parked on the shoulder.
Unfortunately, as Morgan's vehicle decelerated, a truck driven by Gary Harper, a 57-year-old resident of Carrollton, collided with Morgan's car. The impact propelled Morgan's vehicle forward, causing it to strike an SUV driven by Autumn Graves, a 45-year-old resident of Farmersville, which was also parked on the shoulder of the road.
The aftermath of the collision was nothing short of tragic. Jashadrian Morgan suffered injuries that, while not life-threatening, required immediate medical attention. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Regrettably, a 9-year-old passenger who was traveling with Morgan was not as fortunate. CPR was performed on the child at the scene of the accident, but tragically, the injuries proved fatal. The child passed away before further medical assistance could be provided.
