In a turn of events that transformed a routine traffic stop into a prolonged pursuit, a Lone Oak Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a black bobber motorcycle for speeding and lacking a license plate at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening. The motorcyclist, however, chose to flee through Lone Oak and into Point along US69, leaving the officer in pursuit.

Regrettably, the Lone Oak Officer lost sight of the fleeing motorcycle after it turned around. However, approximately four hours later, a vigilant Hunt County Sheriff's Deputy, stationed on US69 south of Greenville, observed a motorcycle traveling north at high speed without any lights. Recognizing the similarity to the earlier incident, the deputy sprang into action.

Soon thereafter, the deputy stumbled upon a male individual walking along US69 at the Greenville City limits. The pedestrian was identified but subsequently released. In an effort to locate the suspect and the abandoned motorcycle, deputies conducted a search along the shoulders of US69. Their search proved successful when they discovered the motorcycle concealed in the weeds near Mamie Rd. A subsequent check of the vehicle identification number (VIN) confirmed its connection to the individual found walking earlier.

Undeterred, the deputies regrouped and successfully relocated the walking individual at the Quick Trip in Greenville. He was promptly detained and identified as twenty-three-year-old Nicholas Gutierrez. Gutierrez, accepting responsibility, admitted that he was the owner of the abandoned motorcycle and confessed to veering off the road. Concerned for his well-being, Gutierrez requested medical assistance, and an ambulance arrived on the scene to assess his condition and clear him for transportation.

Nicholas Gutierrez was subsequently booked into the Hunt County Detention Center on a charge of Evading Arrest or Detention and is currently being held on a $10,000 bond. The fate of his motorcycle remains uncertain, as it too is being held in custody.
