In the early hours of June 8, 2023, local authorities were called to Domino's Pizza in Sulphur Springs following reports of an intoxicated driver. Sulphur Springs Police Department (SSPD) officers swiftly responded to the scene, where they discovered Ricardo Santana, a 19-year-old resident of Brownswood, Texas, sitting in the driver's seat with the engine running.

According to the arrest report, officers immediately detected a strong smell of alcohol emanating from Santana and observed his glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Concerned about the safety of both Santana and the public, the officers proceeded to conduct Standard Field Sobriety Tests. Based on the results of these tests, as well as the officers' observations, Santana was determined to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in a public area.

Following the incident, Ricardo Santana was placed under arrest and transported to Hopkins County Jail. He now faces a charge of DWI 1st degree, categorized as a misdemeanor (MB). This marks the second arrest for Santana in a matter of weeks.

Just earlier in the month, Santana had been apprehended by authorities in Hopkins County for resisting arrest and making abusive calls to the 911 emergency service. These previous charges, combined with the recent DWI arrest, paint a concerning picture of Santana's repeated disregard for the law and public safety.
