The Royse City Police Department responded to a call on July 7, 2023, at 2:30 am regarding a pedestrian who was struck by an 18-wheeler on Eastbound IH30 between Erby Campbell and FM 548. Upon arrival, officers found the pedestrian to be deceased. Initial findings suggest that the pedestrian was in the lane of travel at the time of the incident. At the moment, the identity of the pedestrian remains unknown.
Later in the morning, at approximately 5:03 am, the Royse City Police Department received a missing person report for a 22-year-old female from Royse City. The description of the missing person matched that of the deceased pedestrian. However, the identity of the deceased individual cannot be confirmed until positive identification is established.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was the person who reported the accident and is cooperating with the investigation. The Royse City Police Department Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is currently conducting an inquiry into the incident.
