A routine traffic stop in Hopkins County on Tuesday night escalated into a significant arrest after Deputy J. Wilkerson discovered drugs and a counterfeit U.S. military ID in the possession of the driver, Danielle Aaron from Yantis, Texas. The incident unfolded on S. Broadway St. when Deputy Wilkerson pulled over a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban due to an expired registration.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Wilkerson noticed that Aaron appeared visibly upset. In addition, he observed open alcoholic beverages inside the car, raising concerns about her condition. Acting on his suspicions, the deputy asked Aaron to exit the vehicle, revealing her shaky and nervous demeanor.
Based on probable cause and with Aaron's consent, Deputy Wilkerson proceeded to search the vehicle for narcotics. During the search, he discovered drug paraphernalia, including syringes, spoons with suspected methamphetamine residue, and baggies containing suspected methamphetamine residue. Consequently, Aaron was arrested on drug-related charges while the search continued.
As the search progressed, law enforcement found a prescription bottle of liquid morphine that was not prescribed to Aaron. Additionally, they uncovered a counterfeit U.S. military ID featuring Aaron's photograph. However, Aaron denied any knowledge of the ID and confirmed that she was not a member of the military. Notably, the ID contained personal information belonging to other individuals.
Due to concerns about a possible seizure, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene to evaluate Aaron's condition. After a thorough assessment, EMS deemed Aaron medically stable, and she was subsequently transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center by Deputy Davis. The contraband was safely secured, and the vehicle was impounded.
Further investigation at the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office revealed that the suspected morphine bottle weighed 21 grams but contained less than one gram of suspected morphine upon inspection.
As a result of the evidence gathered, Danielle Nichole Aaron was booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram (POSS CS PG 1/1-B <1G)
- Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, with fewer than five items (# OF ITEMS <5)
