On Monday morning, November 25, 2024, 23-year-old Demerrion Keith Crayton was served an arrest warrant for the murder of Michael Everett Jr. at the McLennan County Jail, where Crayton had been previously detained on unrelated charges.
The fatal incident occurred on November 15, 2023, at approximately 9:53 p.m. when Waco Police responded to a shooting call at the 1100 block of N. 6th St. Officers found 24-year-old Michael Everett Jr. suffering from a severe gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital and remained in critical condition until his death on November 17, 2023.
Following the shooting, Waco Police Special Crimes Detectives launched an investigation into the case, leading to the arrest of Crayton nearly a year after the incident. Crayton now faces a murder charge related to Everett’s death.
