FORNEY, Texas - A 19-year-old man wanted in the killing of a Forney mother who was shot while protecting her child has been captured in Dallas more than a month after the deadly shooting.
Mysiah Clark was arrested Friday morning, Sept. 4, during a traffic stop conducted by Dallas police, according to the Forney Police Department.
Police said Clark attempted to run from officers during the stop. Dallas officers chased him on foot and captured him after a short pursuit.
Clark is accused in the July 26 shooting death of Shalansia Erma Qualls at her home in Forney.
According to Forney police, Qualls was shot and killed while protecting her child. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or what led investigators to identify Clark as the suspect.
Clark was being held by the Dallas Police Department on a first-degree murder charge following his arrest.
The FBI has also requested a hold on Clark for illegal receipt of a firearm.
The investigation involved the Forney Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division, Dallas Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service and Texas Rangers.
