In the early hours of September 28, 2024, Sulphur Springs Police Department officers responded to a location regarding an individual with an active felony warrant. Upon arrival at approximately 12:03 AM, officers were granted access to the residence after an individual inside confirmed that the wanted person was present. Officers observed the wanted individual, Marquis Daekwan Hood, walking from a bedroom to the living room area.
When officers informed the individual that Marquis was to be detained, the person, later identified as Latonya Hood, refused to allow entry and attempted to close the door on officers, stating that the wanted person would not be arrested. Officers entered the residence, despite Latonya’s physical attempts to obstruct them, and successfully detained Marquis Hood.
Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to Hopkins County Jail. Latonya Hood later admitted in the patrol unit that she was aware of the active felony warrant before officers arrived.
Latonya Hood was charged with interference with public duties and has since been released from jail. Marquis Daekwan Hood remains in jail awaiting arraignment on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, in the amount of 4 to 400 grams.
