Sulphur Springs ISD to Limit Bus Services to Students' Homes Starting September 16, 2024

Effective Monday, September 16, 2024, the Sulphur Springs ISD Transportation Department will only provide bus services for students to and from their place of residence or a designated bus stop, before and after school. This decision aligns with Texas public school district regulations, which receive state funds to transport students solely between home and school. These funds cannot be used for transporting students to other destinations, such as a parent’s workplace, extracurricular activities, or medical appointments.

In certain cases, students may be eligible for transportation to a grandparent's residence. However, destinations like workplaces or after-school programs are not permitted. The district also cited safety concerns as a reason for limiting drop-off locations, emphasizing their commitment to student safety. Sulphur Springs ISD thanked the community for its continued support in upholding safety standards for the district’s students.
