Driver Arrested for DWI After Reckless Driving Stop in Hopkins County

On Saturday, September 8, a traffic stop of a Lincoln Navigator led to the arrest of Miguel Angel Baeza-Garcia, who was identified as the operator of the vehicle reported for reckless driving. The vehicle was observed traveling westbound near the 131-mile marker by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office (SO).

Upon making contact with Baeza-Garcia, law enforcement officers noted that he had red, glassy, bloodshot eyes. Baeza-Garcia admitted to consuming alcohol the previous night and explained that he had woken up early to return home. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) were conducted, revealing signs of intoxication.

Baeza-Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. At the facility, he consented to provide a voluntary breath sample. Two breath samples were collected, yielding results of 0.159 g/210 L and 0.154 g/210 L.

Miguel Angel Baeza-Garcia has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, 1st Offense, with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 or more (Misdemeanor A).
