The Rains County Sheriff's Office has received reports of an Emu running around County Road 3425. Authorities are now seeking the contact information for the owners to bring an end to this unusual spectacle.
Concerned for public safety, the Rains County Sheriff's Office has issued a public statement, urging anyone who spots the Emu or possesses information about its owners to contact them immediately.
Emus, native to Australia, are the second-largest living bird species in the world and can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. While they are generally non-aggressive, encounters with humans can be unpredictable. Therefore, authorities are emphasizing the importance of not approaching or attempting to capture the bird without professional assistance.
If anyone sees the Emu, or knows who the owners might be, please call the Rains County Sheriff's Office at 903-473-3181.
"As always with any loose animal as such, please use caution and keep your distance until Sheriff's Office can respond.", posted officials on Facebook.
