Sulphur Springs Father Arrested for Throwing Children, CPS Takes Custody

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, Hopkins County Deputies were advised of a disturbance at a home on PR 5177, off of FM 1567 in Sulphur Springs. The incident involved George Joseph Lindner, who was reportedly agitated and accused his children of causing stress by jumping out of a window.   Deputies made contact with Lindner upon arrival.  He explained to them his frustrations.

Witnesses stated that Lindner physically threw two children, aged 6 and 4, into the residence and attempted to hit them with a belt.   Another witness observed Lindner throwing the same children out of the back door onto the patio in a rough manner which was believed to have injured them.  Deputies did observe bruising on the children corraborating the testimony of the witnesses.  

As a result of the preliminary investigation, Lindner was taken into custody.  Once handcuffed and out of the way, the children were briefly interviewed and they confirmed the events, adding that being thrown hurt.  

Lindner was taken to the Hopkins County Jail and charged with two counts of Injury to a Child with Intent to cause Bodily Injury.  

Deputies on-scene contacted Child Protective Services and they have taken custody of the children.
