A fatal crash occurred early Monday morning, June 03, 2024, at 1:16 a.m. along eastbound Interstate 30 near the 124-mile marker. Sulphur Springs Officers responded to the scene where a 2021 Tesla traveling eastbound on Interstate 30 veered off the roadway and collided with the trailer of a parked truck tractor on the shoulder of the Interstate. The male driver, the sole occupant of the Tesla, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace BJ Teer. The driver's identity has not been disclosed pending notification of family members. The driver of the truck tractor was unharmed in the incident.
Update: The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Jordan Taylor Smith of Sulphur Springs.
