Police have announced an arrest in connection with the deadly pool party shooting in Talty, Texas last week where Tyle Cummins of Quinlan was killed. Read Boles High School statement on the death of Cummins.
On Friday, June 2, 2023, Kaufman County Investigators located a black GMC SUV traveling on US HWY 175 believed to be occupied by the suspect involved in the June 1, 2023, shooting in Talty.
Kaufman County Sheriff's deputies, Crandell PD and Dallas PD conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified offender 18-year-old Francisco Roberto Lozano as one of the occupants in the vehicle.
Lozano was taken into custody and transported to the Kaufman County law Enforcement Center booked into jail for the charge of Capital Murder by Terror Threat. The bail was set at $2 million dollars.
The original crime occurred on June 1st. On that day, at approximately 2:30 am, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 1000 block of Ruidoso Drive in the Winner's Circle gated community in Talty, Texas.
On arrival, deputies found an adult male had been shot and was pronounced deceased at the location. Another adult male had been injured during the incident. The deceased male was later identified as 19-year-old Tyler Cummins.
At the time, police said that two unknown male suspects had fled the location prior to deputies' arrival on scene.
According to officials, the overnight party had been advertised online with party goers arriving from several different surrounding cities. A water gun fight broke out at the party and some party goers noticed their belongings were being stolen which some witnesses believe led to the shooting incident.
