Suspects Arrested in Attempted Theft of Deceased Owner's Porsche in Hopkins County

Hopkins County Deputies responded to a call on May 10, 2024 reporting suspicious activity at a residence in the county. The caller reported  a vehicle and a couple of individuals that did not belong in the property.  The caller further advised that the suspects had entered the garage and were attempting to steal a white Porsche.  

Upon arrival, Deputies found th two suspects attempting to jumpstart the vehicle in the garage. Both were taken into custody. The investigation revealed that new bolt cutters were found in their vehicle, and the front gate lock was cut.  The suspects refused to speak with deputies.  

The structure where the Porsche was parked is directly attached to the residence.  The car was removed from the garage with the keys in the ignition.   The location was known to the deputies as they had responded to it a day before, on May 9th, after the owner of the vehicle was located deceased.  The Porsche was registered to the deceased individual and neither suspect arrested resides at the residence.  

The suspects, 41-year-old Shannon Nicole Struss of Flower Mound and 53-year-old Jeremy Malcolm Record of Lewisville were charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, burglary of a habitation, and possession of criminal instruments.

They were taken to Hopkins County jail without incident.
