The Firemen's and Policemen's Civil Service Commission has announced an examination for ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER positions with the Greenville Police Department. The test is scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, located at 5501 Business Highway 69 S., Greenville, TX 75402.
A Physical Ability Test (PAT) will be conducted that afternoon for those who pass the Police Entry Exam and Personal History Packet Review. Applicants are advised to be prepared for the PAT if they clear the initial processes.
Interested individuals must apply before the application cutoff date on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. Applications received after this date will not be considered. To apply, applicants must submit a City of Greenville/GEUS application form. Resumes may be included as an addendum. Application forms are available at the City's website or the Human Resources Office located at 2821 Washington Street, Greenville, Texas 75403. They can also be submitted via mail or email.
Applicants must also complete a Personal History Statement, which must be brought to the entrance exam testing site on August 3, 2024. The Personal History Statement can be found on the City of Greenville's website and must be submitted in person, not electronically.
Minimum qualifications for applicants include being between the ages of 21 and 55, possessing a valid driver's license, having no prior felony convictions, and meeting specific vision requirements. Vision must be a minimum of binocular 20/200 corrected to 20/20. Veterans with an honorable discharge and a certain length of service may receive additional points on their passing test score. A minimum education standard of a high school diploma or equivalent is also required.
The eligibility list established by this examination will be valid for one year from the date of examination unless first exhausted. Starting salary for entry-level officers is $5,616 per month, with opportunities for higher pay for previously TCOLE certified officers or those entering the City's Lateral Entry program. The City of Greenville is an Equal Opportunity Employer, offering a sign-on bonus for both certified and non-certified officers. Certified officers may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, paid in two parts, while non-certified officers may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus, also paid in two parts.
