On April 29, 2024, Officer Baird from the Commerce Police Department responded to a disturbance call in the 700 block of Washington Street, Commerce, Texas. Upon arrival, Officer Baird encountered a female victim visibly injured, holding her arm in pain. The victim alleged that William Blake Degen, a resident of Commerce, had broken her arm by forcefully pushing her out of an apartment door, causing her to tumble down a flight of stairs.
Following the investigation, Officer Baird determined Degen to be the aggressor and subsequently arrested him for Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury. Degen is currently held in custody with a total bond set at $40,000.
